Now just how easy is it to buy e-gold?

You will need only two things:

1. You will need a free e-gold account

2. You will need to exchange your money into e-gold using a e-gold exchanger like GoldEx

 

The e-gold exchanger (GoldEx) will take your US$, AU$, EUR, GBP, NZ$ or whatever your local currency is, by one of the following options and fund your e-gold account: -

1. bank wire (you go to your bank and send a bank wire)

2. cash deposit (make a cash deposit into one of our bank accounts)

3. Western Union (go to a Western Union office and send your funds)

 

 

Opening a free e-gold account:

(it is a good idea to have a printer connected to the computer you are using as when you have finished filling in the form it is recommended you then print it out. If you do not have a printer make sure you write down accurately all the information you use).

1. click on this link to open your free e-gold account - the first screen is the e-gold "terms and conditions" page. You need to agree to these by clicking on the "I AGREE" button on the bottom on the page.

2. On the next page is the sign up form.

1. "Account name" - here is where you name your account - tip: make it easy to remember (as you will be asked for it) and reasonably short, example, "John's e-gold", "My Money e-gold" or perhaps "Felix" (whatever you like, just make it easy for you to remember it).

2. "User Name" - here just repeat the account name (from 1 above).

3. "Point of Contact" - this is where you put your name, address, phone number and email address (any email address can be used here but it is recommended you use your ISP address - not a free hotmail, etc address).

It is also recommended your also include a fax number (don't have a fax number? This company offers free fax to email services). Try and make it as easy as possible for e-gold to contact you.

Make sure all your details are accurate and remember if any of your details change in the future to update your e-gold account profile. This is very important, if you ever lose or forget your passphrase (password) to your e-gold account you will only get it back if e-gold can contact you using your profile information (you do not want to be locked out of your own e-gold account so keep it up to date).

4. "Passphrase" - this is the most important piece of information connected to any e-gold account. We can not stress enough how important it is that your passphrase is kept safe and secure.

Your passphrase must be unique (not use anywhere else) and it needs to be long like a sentence (hence it is called a passPHRASE not passWORD). Something like "A quick brown dog jumped over the lazy fox" would be a good one (please do not use it ... make up your own short sentence).

Write your passphrase down. If you lose it you will find it hard gaining access to your e-gold account.

For extra security you can type your passphrase in using the "SRK" java keyboard (click on this symbol SRK).

5. "Turing Number Entry" - type the 6 numbers you see there into the input box below.

(at this point it is a good idea to print this page and store it in a safe place)

6. The last step click "Open"

 

On the next page it will tell you that your e-gold account number has been emailed to you. It will also tell you to remember your passphrase (a very good idea).

Ok, go check your email - you can expect to wait up to 5 minutes for your account number to arrive, be patient. If it does not arrive after 5 minutes then that means the email address you supplied was incorrect and you will have to open another new account (go through and repeat what you just did above again).

Once you receive your account number in your email go and log in to our new e-gold account (this is a good test that everything is ok and your passphrase is correct).

Congratulations, you now have your own account! Now all you need is some in it!
